According to a report in business daily Bloomberg, one of the universities in Italy is offering students the chance to get a graduate degree in social media influencing.
The university is promoted by star footballer named, Christiano Ronaldo.
Italy based university said on its website that the three years program aimed to fulfill the current educational gap. It also focuses on the purpose of helping students to gain technical skills needed to pursue a career as an influencer.
However, Ronaldo is aggressively marketing the new strategy of the university.
Added to it, he also pledged to fund at least 36 students as his commitment with the educational institute.
The influencer degree offer classes in fashion psychology, semiotics and the philosophy of the language.
It will also focus on inter-cultural communication, TV history and information technology. According to the website, the university also offers degrees in engineering, law, arts and psychology. It entails more than 30,000 students.
The use of social media to earn a living has been increased significantly in recent years. Therefore companies, brands, and even countries are trying to tap into social media exposure as much as possible.
They are also offering lucrative marketing contracts to the influencers. The announcement has stirred healthy debate on social media.
